In Defence of Slow Mornings

Wellness doesn't need a programme or a product. Sometimes it is twenty minutes before the phone comes on.

The wellness industry has a way of turning rest into homework: routines to optimise, supplements to buy, apps to track. It is worth remembering that some of the most restorative habits cost nothing and require no equipment at all.

Twenty minutes

Try this: for the first twenty minutes of the day, leave the phone where it is. Make coffee. Stretch, or don't. Look out of the window. It sounds trivial, and it is — which is exactly why it works. A morning that begins on your own terms tends to stay that way a little longer.

This is general lifestyle writing, not medical advice.
