The Bags Defining 2026

Five shapes, chosen by our editors, that capture where bags are going this year: structured, carried by hand and built to last.

Bags have always been fashion's barometer: they change faster than coats and slower than T-shirts, and they tell you a lot about where taste is heading. In 2026, the direction is clear. The slouchy tote is giving way to structure — top handles, rigid frames, clasps that click.

We chose these five bags because each one represents a direction we believe will last beyond this season. They range in price and mood, but all of them passed the same test: would one of our editors carry it every day?

How we choose: our editors select every item independently. Some links below are affiliate links and may earn VERSOLLY a commission; brands cannot pay to be included. Read our affiliate disclosure.

    The colour statement

Number 1: Orsa Structured Top-Handle Bag

    Demo listing

A rigid lacquer-red body with a single polished clasp. It is the kind of bag that makes a grey coat or a navy suit look intentional.

    Why we like it

Red is the colour of the season, and a bag is the most wearable way to commit to it.

    The everyday minimalist

Number 2: Studio Halden The Minimal Leather Shoulder Bag

    Demo listing

Smooth calf leather, a slim chain and nothing extraneous. It sits close to the body and works from morning meetings to dinner.

    Why we like it

It holds the essentials without collapsing — the most underrated quality in a small bag.

    The quiet one

Number 3: Orsa Cloud Top-Handle in Chalk

    Demo listing

A soft, rounded frame bag in chalk-white leather. No visible branding; all the interest is in the shape.

    Why we like it

It looks expensive for the right reasons: proportion and leather, not logos.

    The texture piece

Number 4: Vela Atelier Woven Basket Bag

    Demo listing

Hand-woven cane with tan leather trim. A summer bag that looks just as good with a heavy autumn knit.

    Why we like it

Texture does what colour does, more quietly.

    The reliable classic

Number 5: Orsa Quilted Camera Bag

Quilted black nappa with a zip top. A familiar shape, done carefully, that will look right in ten years.

    Why we like it

Every wardrobe needs one bag that goes with everything. This is it.
